Errol Joseph has become a mainstay in the South Shore restaurant scene, as has spent the better part of the last twelve years welcoming guests South of Boston. Errol has been the Assistant General Manager and Wine Manager at Tosca since 2001, and prior was the Maitre d' at The Barker Tavern in Scituate for five years.
A native of The Berkshires, Errol began his restaurant career as a youngster in the kitchen of the Old Mill Restaurant in South Egremont. Over the next several years, he spent time learning dining room operations at well known establishments including The White Hart Inn in Salisbury, CT and The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge. In was then natural that Errol entered the highly acclaimed hospitality program at The University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he graduated with a BS in 1993. Upon graduation, Errol went back into the kitchen where he was the Sous Chef at Croce's Restaurant in San Diego, CA.
The East Coast, and the front-the-house, called him back nearly two years later. Errol spent time gaining further experience in the dining rooms at The White Elephant Resort on Nantucket, The Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, and the former Sheraton Hotel in Plymouth. It was then that he settled on the South Shore.
Every year since Errol has been the Wine Manager at Tosca, The Wine Spectator Magazine has recognized the Tosca wine list with its' "Award of Excellence". This award demonstrates the commitment that Errol and Tosca, together, have made to provide guests with both outstanding quality wines and with superior wine service.
Errol travels to wine making destinations yearly with recent highlights including a trip throughout Italy, a weekend at Oregon's Willamette Valley "Pinot Camp", and jaunts to California's Napa Valley & Sonoma County. In 2007, Errol passed the second level exam of the prestigious Court of Master Sommeliers program, earning him Certification within the organization. He is currently studying for the futrue opportunity to sit for the Master Exam. Upon successful completion of this rigorous exam, a candidate is titled 'Master Sommelier', the highest international credentail for a wine service professional.
Errol resides in Plymouth with his wife, Regina, and two children, Lexi & Luke.
